The Van Patten Family History, by Lois Patterson, Oak Hill Road Marietta, New York, indicates Philip was the son of John Van Patten and Margeret Heemstraat. While it states he married Rosana Sager, it also says nothing else is known about him of his wife. Philip’s brother, Arent (Aaron) married Abilgal Rogers. Their son, Edward migrated to Michigan

Buried in Wright Cemetery, Iosco Township. Occupation: Farmer.

The mortality schedule for the 1860 Iosco Township census lists the death of Samuel Sager, two months old of inflamation of the lungs. He was born in Michigan and was ill for seven days.
