Janna van Dixhoorn, 48, laborer, widow of Cornelis Hamelink left Axel for North America in 1847 with four children.94 Her son Leendert and his wife are listed separately, so the four children that left with her were Josias and Dirk (who appeared in the 1850 census in Wayne County), and two of her three daughters Geertruit, Martina Louwerina, and Elizabeth.
On 25 May 1823 Johanna married Cornelis Hamelink (61514) , son of Dirk Hamelink (51993) (25 Feb 1770-30 Jun 1825) & Geertruy Willemsen (8 Feb 1780-14 Nov 1821), in Axel, Zeeland.94 Born on 7 May 1801 in Zaamslag, Zeeland.94 Cornelis died in Axel, Zeeland, on 29 Mar 1847; he was 45.94

The Dutch in Wayne County, New York
    A number of Zeelanders immigrated to Wayne County, New York, in the late 1840s including Cornelis’ widow and children. Most settled in the town of Williamson, and some in the neighboring town of Sodus, both towns on the south shore of Lake Ontario.
