Edgar, also spelled Eadgar, called the Peaceful, was king of England from 959 to 975 (succeeded by his son Edward). He was the king of Mercia and Northumbria in 957 in place of his brother Eadwig who was deposed. When Eadwig died in 959, Edgar was made king of the West Saxons, and considered as king of England from that time.
Edgar married Æthelflæd of Devon, daughter of Earl Orogar of Devon. Born in 945. Æthelflæd died in 1000.
