John Colman, minister at Bures St. Mary, and Mary Goslinge, testified that they were witnesses when "Lucie Riddlesdale alias Loker of the hamlet of Bures St. Marie in Essex, widow, made a non-cupative will, that is to say by word of mouth ... goods and chattels first to the discharging of her debts, the apparelling of a child of hers called Henrey which was to be put forth [to be] an apprentice ... the rest to be equally divided amongst all her children and her son Danyel to have the first and best part ... said Danyel to be executor" (Suffolk Record Office, Bury St. Edmunds, W1/50/108).
From her will, it is apparent that the testatrix lived south of the River Stour in the part of the parish of Bures St. Mary which lies in Essex.
