1292. Michael Barstow. Born ca 1600 in North Halifax, Yorkshire. Michael was baptized in Shelf, Yorkshire, on 17 Nov 1600.24 Michael died in Watertown, MA bet 30 Oct 1674 and 13 May 1676.14 Occupation: yeoman.

Michael first married Grace Halsted, second Mercy, and third Grace (Walker) Carver, widow of Richard Carver.

Michael lived in Charlestown, and later in Watertown. He had no known children by any of his wives. He acquired a homestall in Watertown upon marrying Grace Walker, widow of Richard Carver.24

While in Watertown Michael was admitted freeman 3 Mar 1635/6, was a representative 1653, and was selectman, juror, etc., many times between 1644 and 1667. He was, for many years, one of the commissioners of Watertown, for settling small causes. By his will, dated 23 Jun 1674, he gave his “farm to his dear Pastor, John Sherman”; to the church £16, and the rest of his estate was distributed among the families of his three deceased brothers. He gave £5 to Elizabeth, wife of William Randall, of Scituate. Inventory, 13 May 1676, £273 18s 5d.30
16 Feb 1624/5 Michael first married Grace Halstead, daughter of Abraham Halstead (-8 Nov 1612) & Susan Whitley (-20 Jul 1626), in Halifax, Yorkshire.24 Born ca 1597 in England. Grace was baptized in Halifax, Yorkshire, on 16 Mar 1597.24 Grace died bef Dec 1635.

By 5 Dec 1635 Michael second married Mercy.24 Mercy died by 1642.24 Religion: “Miles Bastow And Marcia His Wife” Were Admitted To Charlestown Church On 5 Dec 1635.24
By 1642 Michael third married Grace Walker.24 Grace died in Watertown, MA on 21 Jul 1671.24

Grace first married Richard Carver, second Michael Barstow as his third wife.
1293. William Barstow. Born ca 1612 in Shelf, Yorkshire. William died in Dedham, MA 1 Jan 1668/9.14 Occupation: carpenter, planter.

On 19 Sep 1635 “Wm Beeresto” aged 23 and “Geo Beersto” aged 21 were enrolled at London on the Truelove as passengers for New England.14

William settled for a time at Dedham, then removed to Scituate where he was a freeman in 1649. His house was about one hundred rods northwest of Hanover corners on the east side of the Plymouth road. He built ‘Barsto’s bridge’ in 1656.53

“William Barstow came to New England in the ship Truelove in 1635; settled first in Dedham, where several of his children were born. He was Freeman in Scituate in 1649, in that part that became Hanover in 1727, and built a house about 40 rods back of the site of the Second Congregational Church on Oakland Avenue. Its cellar hole can still be seen (1937). William Barstow was the pioneer shipbuilder in Hanover, near Barstow’s bridge, the first bridge over North River, built by him in 1656. He received from the colony £12 for its erection.”42
On 8 May 1638 William married Anna Hubbard (1507) , daughter of James Hubbard (641) & Naomi Cocke (ca 1570-ca 1618), in Dedham, MA.14 Born ca 1614. Anna died aft 23 Jun 1674. Religion: admitted to the Dedham church 16 Apr 1641.14

1294. George Barstow. Born ca 1614 in Halifax, Yorkshire.14 George died in Cambridge, MA 18 Mar 1652/3.14

George came to New England in 1635 and settled in Watertown, but was in Dedham by 1637, Scituate in 1649, and Cambridge by 1652. He was Dedham highway surveyor in 1640, and admitted to the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in 1644.14

Deane wrote, “George Barstow was also a brother of William, sen. and Michael. He was a member of the artillery company in Boston 1644. In 1652, he was a householder in Scituate, and a member of the second Church. He had here one son, George, born 1653. The same year he removed to Cambridge, and deceased immediately after.”53

By 1649 George married Susanna Marrett, daughter of Dea. Thomas Marrett (ca 1589-1664) & Susanna Cranniwell (-1665).14 Born on 9 Jul 1626 in Stephen, Ipswich. Susanna died in Cambridge, MA, on 17 Apr 1654; she was 27.30

1295. John Barstow. Born ca 1625. John died in Dedham, MA 13 Feb 1657/8.

John died when he fell through the ice and drowned near Mr. Parker’s fram coming from Dedham in the night, aged 33.30
John married Hannah.
