Benjamin was freeman 6 Jun 1654.188 He was constable of Duxbury in 1662, selectman frequently from 1666 until his death, collector of excise 1664, and representative to the General Court 1685.184

3415.Dea. William Brewster. Born ca 1644 in Plymouth, MA. William died in Duxbury, MA on 3 Nov 1723.146 Buried in South Duxbury.184 Gravestone enscription: “Here lyes y^e body of Deacon William Brewster/ who departed this live Nov^br y^e 3^d 1723/ aged near 78 year”.
William “lived at Duxbury and was ‘a worthy man,’ who ws often employed to good advantange in the civil affairs of the town. He was made a freeman in 1689, for many years he was a deacon of the church at Duxbury. He was an extensive land owner and he distributed the land by deeds ‘for lov to his sons.’”184
