Peter, of Framingham. He first married Hannah Littlefield; second Sarah (Towne) Bridges, widow of Edmund Bridges; and third Susanna (Harrington) (Cutting) Beers, widow of John Cutting and Eleazer Beers.

From Temple’s History of Framingham:359
    Peter settled in Wells, Maine, probably as early as 1663; removed to Salem Village (Danvers) about 1678; taxed 1681 in the parish rate £1.8.6; became a member of the “Church of christ, at Salem Village, at their first embodying on ye 19 Novr. 1689”; removed 1693 to Framingham, locating at Salem End on the farm now [1887] owned by James Fenton; took a leading part in the organization of our town, and was chosen to the first board of selectmen; was an original member of the first church.
    No record of Mr. Clayes’s children has been found, but his will and deeds give the following: Hannah, m. Daniel Ellit; Sarah, m. John Cunnabell; Mary, m. 2nd Joseph Trumbull; Peter; Abigail m. a Mr Waters; James; Hepzibah; and Alice, m. a Mr. Bridges.

“He moved to Worcester some time aftcr 1712, but retained his interest in Sudbiry, purchasing in 1716; from his brother-in-law, Johm Maynard, and his wife Lydia, all the latter’s interest in her fatller’s estate in Sudbury and elsewhere. He erected a sawmill on his farm in Worcester where the "Red Mills" were afterwards located and where still [1925] stands the building formerly occupied by the Crompton Loom Works. His will bears the date of his death, and apparently was made in haste. Of his children, only the oldest two are named. He left them legacies, and gave the residue of his estate to his wife, Joanna, to be disposed of among his other childrcn at her discretion. She and her son Isaac were residing in Framingham, Mass., in 1725, at which time she remained a widow.”287
