Robert and Sarah were both of Tiverton when they marrried.314 They were second cousins since their maternal grandmothers were sisters.

On 6 Jul 1729 Sarah married Robert Bennett (38543) , son of Robert Bennett (26676) (ca 1681-1746) & Amy Manchester (19261) (ca 1683-Jun 1765), in Portsmouth, RI.322 Robert Bennett and Sarah Lake, both of Tiverton, were married by Gideon Freeborn, Justice, 6 Jul 1729. Born ca 1702.

Will of Restcome Sanford of Tiverton, yeoman, in declining years, dated 26 Dec 1768, proved Oct 1772, mentions wife Content Sanford; sons William Sanford, Restcome Sanford, Samuel Sanford, George Sanford, and Ephraim Sanford; daughters mary Borden, Deborah Hart, Sarah Taber, and Elizabeth Sanford; the three children that my wife Content Sanford had by her first husband—her son Eber Crandell and her daughters Elizabeth Mosher and Mary Hart. Witnesses Joseph Taber, John Borden, and Moses Simmons.248

20821. Abigail Lake. Born on 13 May 1713 in Tiverton, RI. Abigail died in Little Compton, RI, on 29 Aug 1799; she was 86.

Abigail first married John Taber, second Richard Hart as his second wife.

On 8 May 1731 when Abigail was 17, she first married John Taber, son of Joseph Taber (say 1646-aft 20 Jan 1733/4) & Hannah, in Tiverton, RI.374 John died in Tiverton, RI on 22 Nov 1756. Marriage intention published on 8 May 1731 at Tiverton, RI.374

On 18 Oct 1761 when Abigail was 48, she second married Capt. Richard Hart, son of Richard Hart (ca 1667-) & Hannah Williams, in Tiverton, RI. Born on 22 Dec 1704 in Little Compton, RI.374,271 Richard died in Little Compton, RI, on 22 Jul 1792; he was 87.

Richard first married Mary Taber, second Abigail (Lake) Taber, widow of John Taber.

20824. Innocent Lake. Born ca 1720. Innocent died in Tiverton, RI on 15 Apr 1809.

On 14 Aug 1742 Innocent first married Benjamin Taylor, son of Jonathan Taylor, in Portsmouth, RI.322 Benjamin Taylor, son of Jonathan, and Innocent Lake, daughter of David, were married by William Anthony Jr, Justice, 14 Aug 1742.

On 10 Jul 1744 Innocent second married Joseph Remington in Portsmouth, RI. They were married by Robert Lawton, Justice. Joseph died on 27 Oct 1785.

Apparently, the Joseph Remington who married Innocent (Lake) Taylor was not the Joseph Remington born 21 Jan 1721, son of Joseph & Margaret (Burlingame) Remington. See the following email from Lois Sorensen.

I noticed that on your online family tree, there is one small error, which you might want to correct
so as not to perpetuate it (which apparently has already been done by others long before it was ever
posted online in our time). For #16578, Innocent Lake, who married Benjamin Taylor & Joseph
Remington -- the parents of Joseph are currently unknown. This is one of my research projects, to
determine his parentage. However, it has been shown that his parents were not Joseph & Margaret
(Burlingame) Remington, although that information was printed in the Burlingame Manuscript and
elsewhere. Joseph & Margaret indeed had a son named Joseph, but he married someone else, not
Innocent Lake. It was a descendant of that other Joseph, or at least of that branch of Remingtons,
who alerted me to the wills and land evidence proving the case. I am a descendant of Joseph &
Innocent, his parents unknown.

On my online family tree, I have linked Joseph (and Innocent) to a set of possible parents, but that
is as far as the research has led at this point.
