The marriage intention at Scituate names Benjamin Barstow Jr. and Ruth Winslow.52 The marriage record at Hanover names them Benjamin Barstow Jr of Hanover and Ruth Winslow of Scituate.446 Barry’s A Historical Sketch of the Town of Hanover174 says that Ruth Winslow was a widow but neither the marriage intention or marriage record mention that.

There were at least three Benjamin Barstows in Scitutate at the time:
    a. Benjamin Barston, b. 1679, son of Joseph & Susanna (Lincoln) Barstow, but he is said to have died before 1712.
    b. Benjamin Barstow, b. 1690, son of William & Martha Barstow who had married his second wife, Sarah Barden, in 1729
    c. Benjamin Barstow, b. 1716, son of Benjamin (b) and his first wife, Mercy Randall.
It appears that Ruth Winslow married the son, Benjamin Barstow (c).
On 22 Nov 1738 when Ruth was 19, she married Benjamin Barstow (24468) , son of Benjamin Barstow (9449) (22 Jul 1690-ca 1751) & Mercy Randall (9862) (10 Mar 1685-17 Dec 1728), in First Congegational Church of Hanover.446 Born ca 1716. Benjamin was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 2 Sep 1716.52 Benjamin died in Pembroke, MA on 13 Apr 1792.395 Buried in Pembroke Centre Cemetery. Marriage intention published on 7 Oct 1738 at Scituate, MA.52

Israel Thomas (Oct 1670-29 Jan 1755) & Bethiah Sherman (8407) (11 Aug 1678-1 Apr 1728), in First Parish Church of Scituate.52 Born on 26 Jul 1712 in Marshfield, MA.52,60 Nehemiah died in Marshfield, MA, on 30 May 1782; he was 69.123 Occupation: Tanner & farmer.

Nehemiah was the town clerk of Marshfield for mort than 30 years. He lived on the farm of his father, Deacon Israel. It is off Ocean Street and east of the Congregational Chapel and town cemetery.42
