    Ebenezer was prominent in civil and military affairs, as Captain. Major. Commissioner to meet with the Indians at Albanv in 1724, member of Her Majesty’s Council of the Province (Anne. dau. of James II.), etc.; and his duties as High Sheriff were manifold. He was an active and steadfast Christian and a deacon in the church.

On 25 Oct 1695 when Ebenezer was 24, he first married Mary Holton, daughter of William Holton (ca 1644-11 Dec 1711) & Sarah Marshfield (2 Dec 1656-), in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Born on 22 Jul 1678 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Mary died in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, on 8 Dec 1705; she was 27.

In 1697 Nathaniel married Rebecca Stebbins, daughter of Dea. John Stebbins (1626-7 Mar 1678/9) & Abigail Bartlett (ca 1637-10 Oct 1710). Born ca 1676. Rebecca was baptized in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, on 26 Feb 1676.385 Rebecca died in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts on 8 May 1712.
