Bela, also spelled Belah, is an uncommon name in New England. The name appears in the Bible as a town on the Dead Sea, as the eldest son of Benjamin (Genesis 46:21, 1 Chronicles 7:6 and 8:1, Numbers 26:38), as a son son of Beor king of Edom (Genesis 36:32, 1 Chronicles 1:43), and a son of Azaz (1 Chronicles 5:8). It is Bela the son of Benjamin that is probably the source for the given name Bela in New England.
