56086. Eunice Alvord. Born on 14 Jun 1727 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Eunice died on 18 Feb 1763; she was 35.
Eunice married Bela Strong (26900) , son of Jerijah Strong (10817) (12 Dec 1665-24 Apr 1754) & Thankful Stebbins (11 May 1678-24 May 1744). Born on 4 Oct 1719 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Bela died in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, on 5 May 1803; he was 83.

Bela, also spelled Belah, is an uncommon name in New England. The name appears in the Bible as a town on the Dead Sea, as the eldest son of Benjamin (Genesis 46:21, 1 Chronicles 7:6 and 8:1, Numbers 26:38), as a son son of Beor king of Edom (Genesis 36:32, 1 Chronicles 1:43), and a son of Azaz (1 Chronicles 5:8). It is Bela the son of Benjamin that is probably the source for the given name Bela in New England.

Apparently, Bela Strong was the first of that name in New England. The first few Bela’s of New Engand appear to be
