John Appleton (ca Nov 1622-4 Nov 1699) & Priscilla Glover (-18 Feb 1687/8), in Marshfield, MA.42 “Mr Nathaniel Thomas & Mrs Mary Appleton were Maried June the 20^th. 1694, by Mr John Rogers Minester”. Born on 15 Apr 1673 in Ipswich, MA.120 Mary died in Marshfield, MA, on 7 Oct 1727; she was 54.

Born on 23 Jan 1673 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Anna died in Norton, MA, on 1 Sep 1733; she was 60.

On 1 Dec 1692 when Deborah was 24, she married John Croade, son of John Croade (ca 1634-Nov 1670) & Elizabeth Price (13 Jan 1642/3-), in Marshfield, MA.60 “John Croade and Deborah Thomas were married the first day of Desember 1692 by Mr Samuel Arnold Minester”. Born on 14 Jun 1663 in Salem, MA.

On 20 Nov 1688 when Dorothy was 18, she married Hon. Joseph Otis (12022) , son of John Otis (4083) (ca 1621-16 Jan 1684) & Mary Jacob (11010) (ca 1632-aft 12 Jul 1699), in Marshfield, MA.60,52 “Joseph Otis and Dorothy Thomas were Married the 20^th day of November 1688. by Mr Thomas Mighell Minester”. Born in 1665 in Scituate, MA.168 Joseph was baptized in Hingham, MA, on 3 Jun 1666.168 Joseph died in Montville, CT on 11 Jun 1754.168 Occupation: judge.

    Judge Otis’ residence at Scituate was on the south of Coleman’s Hill, the former residence of Gilbert Brooks, Esq. He held the office of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Plymouth Co. from 1703-1714. In 1709 the town of Scituate voted that ‘the Society empower Joseph Otis, Esq. to finish the meeting house by pewing it, and also to appoint two and two to a pew[when they do not agree to couple themselves], each couple paying the cost of building the pew.’ In 1710 he was elected under the governor’s order, representative to ‘the Great and General Court’, and again in 1713. He held other town offices. He moved to New London about 1721, where many of his relations and acquaintances lived, and bought of James Harris a tract of 650 acres of land ‘lying in the North parish in New London, adjoining a pond called Obplintksok,’ now Gardiner’s Lake, a mile or more in length. This land was purchased by Thomas Stanton, or Stonington, of Owaneco, 11 Nov 1698, and by him sold to Joseph Otis. He was received to the communion of the church at New London 19 Nov 1722.
    He was much in public employment, was Moderator of town meetings, on parish and church committees almost yearly, etc.
    From the records of Colchester, Conn. it appears that in 1724 he purchased of Capt. Samuel Gilbert a house and farm of 180 acres, lying in the east part of the town of Colchester, on the old country road for ‘770 pounds lawful money of New England.’ He is described in the deed, as of Scituate. This land Joseph deeded to his son Nathaniel in 1735, ‘for and in consideration of the love, good will and affection which I have for and do bear unto my beloved son, and is the whole of what I design my said son shall have of my estate’. The house erected on this land by Nathaniel, has been occupied successively by five generations.
    Judge Otis is spoken of by his contemporaries as a gentleman of great integrity, a judicious and useful citizen. The following portrait was written of him soon after his death ‘He was a Christian upon principle, a public spirited and useful man, distinguished by talents of the solid, judicious and useful, rather than of the brilliant and showy kind. He was of large stature, his countenance solemn and serene, frank and open in his manner, of ready wit and sound understanding. As a private individual he had the union of simple dignity and benevolent courtesy which marks the gentleman. He died universally lamented.’

On 4 Jun 1701 when William was 28, he married Abigail Ruck, daughter of Samuel Ruck (ca 1633-27 Dec 1708) & Margaret Clarke (-1 Jan 1690/1), in Boston, MA. Born on 5 Jun 1664 in Boston, MA. Abigail died in Boston, MA, on 4 May 1717; she was 52.

On 20 Apr 1720 when Joshua was 42, he married Mary Durfee.

On 21 Sep 1708 when Caleb was 27, he married Priscilla Capen, daughter of Rev. Joseph Capen (29 Dec 1658-30 Jun 1725) & Priscilla Appleton (25 Dec 1657-18 Oct 1743), in Topsfield, MA. Born on 1 Sep 1685 in Topsfield, MA. Priscilla died bef 11 Sep 1747.

On 15 Oct 1711 when Isaac was 28, he first married Anna Thompson, daughter of Rev. Edward Thompson (20 Apr 1665-16 Mar 1704/5) & Sarah Webster (31 Jul 1659-aft 1704), in Newbury, MA.60 Born on 31 Dec 1689 in Newbury, MA. Anna died in Pembroke, MA 1 Mar 1722/3.42 Buried in Pembroke Cemetery.42

Anna died in childbirth.

14 Jan 1723/4 Isaac second married Abigail Cushing (35267) , daughter of Joshua Cushing (16815) (27 Aug 1670-26 May 1750) & Mary Bacon (26630) (7 Feb 1679/80-), in Pembroke, MA.395 Born 31 Jan 1703/4 in Marshfield, MA.60 Abigail died aft 1 May 1779.

Abigail first married Isaac Thomas as his second wife, and second Isaac Little as his second wife.

Mary first married Rev. James Gardner. Born in Scotland. James died in Marshfield, MA on 6 Sep 1739.109

James was ordained in 1707 at the First Church in Marshfield.109

On 12 Jul 1743 Mary second married Capt. John Goold, son of Robert Goold (ca 1645-1718/9) & Mehitable Bosworth (ca 1647-bef 1690), in Boston, MA.109 Born ca 1672 in Hull, MA. John died in Hull, MA on 16 Nov 1762.165 Buried in Hull Cemetery. Occupation: cordwainer.
