(Int.) 17 Jan 1746 Hannah married Elisha Sylvester (42975) , son of Zebulon Sylvester (52710) (24 Jan 1689-16 Dec 1766) & Mary Turner (23169) (10 Jun 1690-16 Apr 1774), in Scituate, MA.52 Born say 1724 in Scituate, MA. Elisha was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate.52 Elisha died in Scituate, MA on 17 Jul 1805.

The marriage intention of Elisha and Hannah Hunt of 1746 did not name him as Elisha Jr, but the marriage record of 1751 for Elisha and Grace Ruggles did name him as Elisha Jr. Did the same Elisha Sylvester marry both, or were they two different Elisha Sylvesters? The records of the deaths of Hannah in 1749 and Grace in 1776 just said that they were the wife of Elisha, no Jr or Sr attached.

And who was the other Elisha Sylvester Sr who was not the son of Zebulon and Mary? There was another Elisha Sylvester born 1685 to Israel and Martha. He may have been the Elisha Sylvester who marrried Eunice Prouty in 1734 and may have still been alive in 1751.

The baptism date of 24 Apr 1720 must be for an earlier son of Zeebulaon and Mary, since “Elisha, son of Zeubon and Mary Silvester, father of Thomas and Elisha” was baptized as an adult. (No date is given in the printed Vital Records,52 but the church records should give an approximate date.)
