    Under the care of Mr Danforth of Dorchester, Nathaniel received his theological education. He first preached in Scituate in March 1705, during the illness of Mr Cushing. Again in May 1706, the Church and Society voted to invite him to preach, which he did for a few Sabbaths; and again in the summer of 1707, when he was invited to become their pastor. He was ordained on the 4th Wednesday of September 1707.
On 24 May 1710 when Nathaniel was 24, he married Sarah Cushing (20989) , daughter of Hon. John Cushing (16810) (28 Apr 1662-19 Jan 1736) & Deborah Loring (7770) (15 Mar 1668-9 Jun 1713), in the Second Church of Scituate.52 Born 8 Jan 1689/90 in Scituate, MA.52 Sarah died in Sep 1723.
