    Hendrick joined the Hackensack church on confession, Oct. 14, 1716. Gov. Lewis Morris commissioned him, Dec. 15, 1739, a lieutenant "of the Company of Foot Militia for the County of Bergen of which Abram Varick is Captain." Hendrick occupied his father's farm in the village of Hackensack, extending from the Hackensack river westerly to the Red Hill. The Hackensack library building stands on land which he gave for the purpose.
On 28 Aug 1715 Hendrick married Sara Claes Romeyn, daughter of Claes Jansen Romeyn (ca 1640-1700) & Styntje Albertse Terhune (6 Mar 1654-aft 18 May 1732), in Hackensack Reformed Church.347 Born ca 1690 in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey.

    Reynier lived at Secaucus, where he owned an extensive tract of land, including Snake Hill. He was commissioned a justice of the peace of Bergen county, Sept. 26, 1745; and again in 1749, and 1763-73; in 1754 he was elected to the Assembly, and was re-elected in 1761. In 1762 he was appointed one of the Judges and justices of the Bergen county common pleas, and was re-appointed in 1768; he resigned both offices in 1773. His will, dated Jan. 4, 1775, was proved May 10, 1783; in it he is described as of New Barbadoes, Bergen county.
