    Reuben received from his father a homestead of 100 acres .... He was one of the soldiers of the Revolution, enlisting September 23, 1778, as Corporal, in Captain David Goodwin’s company in Col. Cogwell’s regiment of militia, for guarding and fortifying the posts in and near Boston.
On 14 Dec 1780 when Reuben was 23, he married Abigail Eames, daughter of Daniel Eames (30 Mar 1721-1772) & Sarah Hay, in Wilmington, MA.399 Born on 17 Nov 1759 in Wilmington, MA.399 Religion: Abigail was baptized and admitted to the Wilmington church 19 Aug 1786.209

51303. Simeon Butters. Born on 23 Aug 1759 in Wilmington, MA.399 Simeon was baptized in Wilmington, MA, on 2 Sep 1759.209 Simeon died in Exeter, Maine, on 3 Apr 1827; he was 67.

    Simeon received the education offered at that time in the Butter’s Row School, and assisted his father on the farm.
    He entered his country's service first in Caleb Brook's company, Col. Dike’s regiment, receiving pay on the roll of November, 1776, for gun and blanket. He again enlisted Nov. 5, 1777, in Capt. Cadwallader Ford’s company, in Col. Brook's regiment; also, on May 18, 1779, as Sergeant in Major Nathaniel Heath’s company; also, Oct. 22, 1779, as private in Capt. Joshua Walker’s company, Col. Samuel Denny’s regiment; again, on July 5, 1780, as private in Capt. Jesse Wyman’s company, in Col. Josiah Whitney’s regiment; also, on Sept. 13, 1781, as Sergeant in Capt. Samuel Tay's company, Col. Webb’s regiment.
    He moved to Jaffrey, N.H., and in 1783 joined the Training Band of that place. He took an active part in all matters of interest to the town; was elected Selectman in 1790, and was Moderator of the annual town meetings from 1800 to 1803, when he moved to Union, Me. Here he was early called to serve the public, being one of its Selectmen in 1810, and was chosen one of its Tithing men in 1813, which position he held until the close of 1823. He was a member, and active in all that pertained to the interest of the Methodist Church.
On 6 Jul 1780 when Simeon was 20, he married Betsey Eames, daughter of Jacob Eames (12 Jun 1732-) & Lucy Frost (9 Apr 1737-), in Wilmington, MA.399 Born on 6 Jun 1760 in Wilmington, MA.399 Religion: Betsey was baptized and admitted to the Wilmington church 11 May 1783.209

Jesse, born in Wilmington, son of Reuben and Rachel (Thompson) Butters, was one of the young soldiers of the Revolution, and described upon the muster rolls: Stature, 5 feet 10 inches, complexion light; enlisting July 2, 1778, in Capt. Nath, Cowdry's company, for guard duty on Winter Hill, under command of Col. Jacob Gerrish; also, Jan, 26, 1779, in Capt. Nathaniel Heath’s company, to do duty as guards about Boston, under the Hon. Major Gen, Gates; again, Oct. 22, 1779, in Capt. Joshua Walker’s company of militia, in Col. Samuel Denny’s regiment, and marched to Claverock, and July 10, 1780, on pay roll for nine men raised in ye town of Wilmington, and employed in ye Continental service ye term of six months, assigned to the Fifteenth Division, commanded by Capt. Hancock; discharged Dec. 16, 1780.
    He inherited from his father Reuben the homestead and 110 acres, “on the east side o( the road that leads from John Bell’s, and so on northward, including the dwelling-house, being the Garrison House of his grandfather Samuel.”
In 1782 Jesse first married Rebecca Jenkins (63082) , daughter of Joseph Jenkins (55560) (17 Mar 1725-8 Jan 1808) & Sarah Barron (4 Aug 1726-7 Mar 1810).576 Born on 28 Dec 1762 in Wilmington, MA.399 Rebecca died in 1784.576

On 22 Nov 1787 when Jesse was 26, he second married Betsey Cutler (63846) , daughter of Nathaniel Cutler (58398) (6 Sep 1748-17 Oct 1813) & Elizabeth Bennett (5 Nov 1751-6 Oct 1847), in Wilmington or Woburn, Massachusetts.399,124 Born ca 1770. Betsey was baptized in Burlington, MA, on 10 Mar 1770.551 Betsey died in Wilmington, MA on 1 May 1830.164

    Betsey (Cutler) Butters died May 1, 1830, age 61, and upon her death a partition was made of the estate, and of her dower right the six children by her first husband and the four by her second marriage had an equal share.
