    Samuel, (yeoman,) son of Samuel and Sarah (Jaquith) Butter, received from his father a homestead of 100 acres, lying east of and adjoining that of liis brother John. He marched on the Lexington alarm April 19, 1775, in Captain Freeborn Moulton’s company of minute men, of Monson, and in Colonel Donnelson’s regiment. On November 5, 1764, he was commissioned by Harrison Gray (the Treasurer of Massachusetts Bay Colony) to collect the taxes, he being Constable of Wilmington for that year.

    Reuben, son of Samuel and Sarah (Jaquith) Butters, was baptized and admitted to the Church
of Christ in Wilmington Jan. 4, 1756. He inherited the old homestead of his father, and followed the life of a farmer. At a meeting held in Wilmington, March 7, 1773, he was elected one of a Committee of Correspondence with the Boston Committee. On May 17, 1780, the form of State Constitution reported by the Cambridge Convention was submitted to the people of Wilmington, and referred to a committee, of which Reuben Butters was one. Amendments suggestedvby this committee were adopted by the convention. He marched on the Lexington alarm April 19, 1775, in Captain Timothy Walker's company. Colonel Green's Regiment.

    John, son of Samuel and Sarah (Jaquith) Butters, born in Wilmington, was by occupation a farmer. He received from his father “all land lying between his brothers Samuel and Reuben, with buildings thereon, except a place for water at the pond for creatures”; also, “1 1/2 acres of meadow on south side of Clear Meadow Brook,” and the “Woodward lot” of 28 acres. When Benjamin Thompson (Count Rumford) left this country, John Butters was debtor on a note £4-3-3 (See Ellis' Count Rumford, p. 365).
    John Butters marched on the eventful day of April 19, 1775, in Captain Simeon Hazeltine's company.
    His will was probated June 4, 1793.
