51318. John Butters. Born on 12 May 1759 in Wilmington, MA.399 At the age of 9, John was baptized in Wilmington, MA, on 19 Mar 1769.209

From the Butters Family:209
    John served in the Revolution, in Capt. David Goodwin’s company, in Col. Cogwell’s regiment of militia, detached for the purpose of guarding the ports in and near Boston, Sept. 25, 1778.
    He moved to Jaffrey, N.H., when in June 14, 1784, he belonged to the Training Band of that town. He settled on the lot formerly occupied by Isaac Baldwin. On January 7, 1794, while John Butters and his wife were absent on a visit to a neighbor’s, their house took fire and burned, together with their four children. He left town that year and did not rebuild.
    From deeds of real estate we find his residence given November 6, 1799, in Westford, Mass. He sold at that time sixty acres in Westford to his brother Jedediah. In 1801, living in Westford, he bought a piece of land in that town of John Betty, of Chelmsford, for $660. On April 25, 1804, he bought of Samuel Lancy a farm, lying in Westford, for $880. Again, in 1804, his residence is given as Medford, when his wife Elizabeth joins in deed of land to N. Hildreth, of that place. On May 14, 1807, his residence is given as Stoddard, Cheshire county, N.H., occupation a trader; sold a farm in Westford, Mass., to Samuel Lancy.
On 11 May 1780 when John was 20, he married Elizabeth Winn in Wilmington, MA.399

John and Elizabeth were both of Wilmington when they married.

Children of John and Elizabeth (Winn) Butters:
    i. John Butters, b. 20 Sep 1784;
    ii. Cena Butters, b. 20 Jan 1788;
    iii. Polly Butters, b. 20 Aug 1790; and
    iv. Maria Theresa Butters, b. 30 Sep 1792.
All four children died 7 Jan 1794.209

51320. Abel Butters. Born on 22 Dec 1762 in Wilmington, MA.399 Abel was baptized in Wilmington, MA, on 8 May 1763.209

Abel (recorded as John in the vital records) served in the Revolution in Capt. Heath’s Co.; 1779 duty as guards under Gen. Gates; also, Oct 1779, in Capt. Joshua walker’s Co., in col. Samuel Denny’s regiment.209
51321. Jedediah Butters. Born on 16 Feb 1764 in Wilmington, MA.399 At the age of 3, Jedediah was baptized in Wilmington, MA, on 24 Feb 1767.209

From the Butters Family:209
    Jedediah inherited the homestead of his father, which, upon his death, passed to his sons, and sold by them to Joseph Butters. He purchased sixty acres in Westford of his brother John in November, 1799, but have no record that he occupied it.
    Tradition has it that there were twelve sons and one daughter in the family of Jedediah.
On 17 Feb 1789 when Jedediah was 25, he married Betsey Boutwell in Wilmington, MA.399

Betsey and Jedediah were both of Wilmington when they married.
