Ruth first married Benjamin Sprague, second Matthew Cushing as his second wife, and third Amos Sprague as his second wife. Ruth’s third husband, Amos Sprague, was the widower of Ruth’s sister Desire. He was also a first cousin of her first husband, Benjamin Stodder.

52083. Thomas Cushing. Born 21 Mar 1746/7 in Hingham, MA.45 Thomas died in Fenner, Madison County, New York on 15 Dec 1823.2 Buried in Needham Cemetery, Fenner.

Thomas and Elizabeth resided on Union St. ‘over the river’. About 1795 they removed to the then wilderness of central New York, where soon afterwards he purchased a large tract, and built the homestead, still [in 1905] in the possession of his descendants, in Fenner, NY. He was a grave, very religious man, and gave much attention to the education of his sons. He was a deacon of the church and served as a soldier in the Revolution.2
On 30 Sep 1773 Thomas married Elizabeth Turner (43006) , daughter of Benjamin Turner (23189) (5 Aug 1698-12 Aug 1748) & Marcy Turner (23256) (24 Sep 1703-19 Feb 1787), in Scituate, MA.52 Born on 5 Apr 1747 in Scituate, MA.52 Elizabeth died in Fenner, Madison County, New York, on 31 Oct 1823; she was 76.2

52085. Nathaniel Cushing. Born on 30 Mar 1753 in Hingham, MA.45 Nathaniel died in Scituate, MA in 1794.

Nathaniel purchased from Philip the estate known as the ‘Cushing Homestead’ of the late Nathan Cushing, a grandson of Nathaniel.42

Nathaniel and Alice settled in Scituate, MA. Nathaniel was a drummer in Capt. Wm. Turner’s (3rd Scituate) Co., Col. Anthony Thomas’s regt. 1775, also private in Capt. Nathaniel Winslow’s Co., Brig.-Gen. John Thomas’ regt. the same year, and Sergeant in Capt. Freedone Chamberlain’s Co., Col. Simeon Cary’s regt. in 1776.2

Nathaniel died suddenly on the road to Hanover in 1794. No record of his death has been found, other than this statement made by his descendants.42
On 30 Jun 1774 when Nathaniel was 21, he married Alice Cushing (52184) , daughter of Dea. Joseph Cushing (35281) (21 Nov 1711-2 Jan 1767) & Lydia King (35328) (26 Dec 1716-), in Scituate, MA.52 Born in 1756 in Scituate, MA.52 Alice was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 19 Jun 1757.335 Alice died in Scituate, MA on 26 Aug 1848.52 “old age”.

Alice often spelled her name Ellis. Alice and Nathaniel were second cousins; their paternal grandfathers were brothers.

Alice died of “old age”.52
