On the 1879 Atlas of Plymouth County, James and Mercy’s chlidren–C.L. Ford, Mrs. P. Ford, and B. Ford–are all shown in the community of East Pembroke. It’s likely that they lived on the same land. This community is right on the boundary with Duxbury, at the intersection of Elm and Taylor Streets in Pembroke, and Myrtle and Union Streets in Duxbury, about a mile west of Route 3. The Atlas indicates that the Ford land was on the southeast side of Taylor Street.
On 7 May 1810 when James was 19, he married Mercy Lewis (62356) , daughter of Bela Lewis (53371) (ca 1761-28 Mar 1841) & Mercy Lapham (55821) (3 Sep 1763-22 Feb 1810), in Marshfield, MA.60 Born on 20 Aug 1790 in Pembroke, MA.395 Mercy died in Pembroke, MA, on 30 Aug 1865; she was 75. Buried in East Pembroke Cemetery. Marriage intention published on 21 Apr 1810 at Pembroke, MA.395
