Ezra Brewster removed to Colwell’s Manor or Sixth Concession, Canada, in 1807. As he was about to be pressed into the British Army in the War of 1812, he, with his wife and children, left Canada for Vermont, in a sleigh, escaping three guards, who were stationed along the line to Vermont. He settled his family on a farm in Monroe County, N. Y., and in 1813 enlisted at Scottsville, N. Y., as a private, and was in the battles of Port Erie and Black Eock. For his services he received from the Government, in 1850, a military warrant for forty acres of land in Genesee County, Mich. In 1824 he settled in Michigan, where he was a farmer and land locater of Government lands in the Territory of Michigan, his last residence being at Oakland, Oakland County, Mich.
In 1806 Ezra married Hannah Shetler in Highgate, Franklin County, Vermont.184 Born on 16 Mar 1787 in Highgate, Franklin County, Vermont.184 Hannah died on 28 Jan 1867; she was 79.184
