From Allen H. Bent’s article “The Bent Family”:179
    “Peter Bent, as well as his father, was one of the petitioners for the township of Marlboro’ in 1656, and soon after wettled there, where he had a grant for a mill, which was probably in the part which afterward became Southboro’. during King Philip’s War his son was scalped by the Indians, his house garrisoned and burnt. He died in ‘Old England sometyme in May 1678,’ aged 49. His will is dated 21 Dec 1674, at which time he was about to start for England. He returned between these tow dates, however.”

    John Bent bought in 1662 from Henry Rice land on the west side Chchituate brook, and build a house a short distance southeast of the Albert G. Gibbs house; and 16 Apr 1683 bought 60 acres of Gookin & How, adjoinging his first purchase. Probably he was the fourth man to build on Framingham land.

    “John Bent bought in 1662 land on the west side of the old Connecticut Path, in what is now the town of Framingham. The first petition for the incorporation of this township was headed by Corporal John Bent, who was chosen one of the tythingmen at the second town meeting in 1701.”

        “Joseph Bent was married Jun 30, 1666, to Elizabeth, daughter of John bourne of Marshfield, and moved thither. He was constable in 1669. he moved back to Sudbury before 1661, however, and was killed accidentally in the summer of 1675 (aged 23) by a pistol shot from his brother Peter. Joseph was the father of six children, five of whom were living in 1686, at the settlement of the estate of John Bourne, their grandfather, though the names of two daughters are not known.”
On 30 Jun 1666 when Joseph was 25, he married Elizabeth Bourne (4531) , daughter of John Bourne (1821) (ca 1610-Dec 1684) & Alice Besbedge (1816) (ca Jun 1624-May 1686), in Marshfield, MA.60 “Josiah Bent and Elizabeth Bourne waas maried the last of June: 1666”. Born on 31 May 1646 in Marshfield, MA.60 Elizabeth died between 1675 and 1685.
