Matthew came to New England with his parents in 1635. No further record.14

5670. Elizabeth Borden. Born ca 1632 in England. Elizabeth died early 1673.202

Elizabeth apparently used the surname Gay before her marriage. Richard and Elizabeth Martin resided in Boston. They had seven children between 1661 and 1672.202

In 1660 Elizabeth married Richard Martin in Salem, MA.202 The marriage was recoreded in Boston with Elizabeth’s name given as Elizabeth Gay. Richard died in 1671.202

A Richard Martin, age 12, is on the roster of the Elizabeth and Anne in 1635.202

5671. John Borden. Born on 24 Jun 1635 in Watertown, MA.14 At the age of 4, John was baptized in Dedham, MA, on 8 Aug 1639.202 “John Balducke the sone of our sister Gay by hir first husband was baptised the 8th day of the 6 month 1639,” and “Samuel Gay son of our sister Gay by hir 2nd husband was baptised the same day”. John died in Lyme, CT ca 1684.

John was born at sea if 1635 is correct, but in Watertown if the year should be 1636.14

From the second entry of the Dedham Town register of births: “1635 John, the Son of John Balden and Joana his wife, was borne the 24th of the 4th mo.” John was apprenticed to Charles Chadwick of Watertown during the mid-1650s, but by 1660 removed to the New London area.202

On 11 Feb 1661 when John was 25, he married Hannah Hough (9732) , daughter of Dea. William Hough (ca 1619-10 Aug 1683) & Sarah Calkins (3289) (ca 1627-16 Oct 1683), in New London, CT.202 Born on 31 Jul 1646 in Gloucester, MA.376 Hannah died in Lyme, CT bet. 1681 and 1684.202
