From the Alling-Allens of New Haven:414
Capt. Theophilus Alling, the 6th son of Sergt. Samuel Alling, was a weaver and clothier; he first settled at Allingtown, but about 1713 removed to East Haven, where he was a freeman, and died there in 1757. He was appointed ensign in the train band in 1718, lieutenant in 1723 and captain in 1731.
His oldest son Gideon, at the age of 27, died unmarried before his father, who was made his administrator in 1736. His will, dated Oct. 23, 1749, gives his “wife Elizabeth all she brought with her,”and his dau. Phebe Alling, “all my household goods, and one cow if I have any.” To my children Benjamin and Timothy Alling, Thankful Dawson and Lydia Harrison, I have already given what I intend they shall have. To his son Titus Alling he gives all his real estate, both land and buildings, and appoints him his executor.
