Hannah’s father and first husband Samuel died in the Turner’s Falls battle of 1676. Four months after her marriage to Stephen in 1677, she was captured by the Indians and carried off with two of her Gillett children to Canada. She escaped the next year In 1708, her son Joseph Gillet was wounded and her daughter’s husband killed, and in 1710, her husband Samuel was killed by Indians.151 150
On 23 Sep 1668 when Hannah was 19, she first married Samuel Gillett, son of Jonathan Gillett (ca 1609-23 Aug 1677) & Mary Dolbiar (ca 1607-5 Jan 1685[/6]), in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.151 Born ca 1642/3 in Windsor, CT. Samuel was baptized in Windsor, CT, 22 Jan 1642/3.16 Samuel died in Turners Falls, Franklin County, Massachusetts on 9 May 1676.151

Samuel settled in Hatfield and was slain in the Fall’s fight along with his father-in-law, John Dickinson.151

Stephen, freeman 1690, came to Hatfield from Brookfield, and later returned to Brookfield. Either Stephen, or his son Stephen, was slain by the Indians July 20, 1710.151

Samuel is the only known child of James Northam. Samuel removed from Hartford to Hadley, thence about 1686 to Deerfield, and before 1709 to Colchester. He was a townsman of Colchester, elected 13 Dec 1709.47

Martin resided at Hatfield, Deerfield, and suffield. He was captured with four of his children in French and Indian destruction of Deerfield on 19 Feb 1704 and taken to Canada. His son Jonathan was killed in the raid.
