(#177) Cornelius Phelps, b. Windsor, Ct., 2 June, 1707, m. 24 March, 1742-3, Hannah Phelps, she (daughter of Thomas and Hannah Phelps) b. Poquonock, Windsor, Ct., 28 Sept., 1709, of the line of George, brother of Mr. William Phelps of 1630. He m. 2nd, Mary .
Mr. Phelps settled in Windsor, Ct. It would appear that this Cornelius joined the Revolutionary Army, Nov. 5th, 1781, and died in the service, Jan. 18, 1782. His will, dated Nov. 8th, 1781, mentions his [second] wife Mary, sons Cornelius and Job. To Cornelius he gives his blacksmith shop and tools, and mentions daughter Hannah, wife of Martin Pinney, daughter Ann, wife of Joseph Griswold, and Mary, wife of David Pinney. Children, all by 1st wife, b. Windsor, Ct.:

Hannah and Cornelius were first cousins; their fathers were brothers.

Mr. Phelps appears to have settled in Colebrook, Ct., and removed to Pompey, N. Y. His son, Luther Phelps, bought a house of Isaac Wilcox in 1779, in Winchester. He is said to be of Pompey, N.Y. Children, (probabby.)
i. Calvin, b. 1750. Note. — He probably m. Jemima C, says the record. This Jemima C, wife of Calvin Phelps, died 19 June, 1817, aged 20 years, at Phelps, N.Y., about 50 miles from Pompey, N. Y.
ii. Luther, b. 1755.
