Adam was selectman of Hingham in 1720. He bought an estate at the corner of Commercial and Esses Streets, Hingham, in 1726.45 He removed to Weymouth near 1727.83 His will was made at Weymouth and proved 1752.45
“Almost immediately upon his settlement in Weymouth, from his force of character, education and reputation, he sprang into prominence and became the leading spirit in all town and parish affairs. He was almost continuously the deputy to the General Court form 1735 to 1748, and held as regularly the most important town offices. Among his other offices he held a captain’s commission in the militia, hence his military title, and was one of His majesty’s justices of the peace.”2
