Samuel drowned while boating with his brother Benjamin on the Penobscot River. They were conveying wood from the shore to a coasting vessel. “Benjamin recovered the body of his brother and set sail immediately, and under those solemn and trying circumstances, alone navigated the vessel safely back to Scituate.”131

Sarah lived with Capt. Souther, her uncle, and inherited his estate at Hull, where she died a maiden lady.131
