Email of 14 Sep 2012: I noticed that you don't mention his son James J. [Jacobus] Smith, baptized at the Linlithgo Reformed Church in 1783.  I am sending you a copy of a file on John J. Smith, which includes some information on James J. and also some additional information on John J.  If you could include James J. in a future revision of the "Pane Joyce Genealogy" a fellow researcher, Kim Cohen, and I would greatly appreciate it.
On 26 Dec 1803 when James J. was 20, he married Phebe in Claverack Reformed Church.678 Born ca 13 Feb 1778 in New York. Phebe died in Kent County, Michigan on 26 May 1857. Buried in Old Rockford Cemetery.

There is a couple, James I. and Phebe Smith, buried in Old Rockford Cemetery, also called Rockford Pioneer Cemetery.
    Jas. I. Smith, d. 9 Aug 1863 æ 84 yrs 5 mos 27 days
    Phebe Smith, wife of Jas. I., d. 26 May 1857 æ 79 yrs 3 mos 13 days
The ages are off by a couple of years. According to the ages at death, James was born 13 Feb 1779 and Phebe 13 Feb 1778. (It’s quite a coincidence that they were born on the same day. Perhaps one is incorrect.) Unless another James and Phebe Smith are found in the census records, these graves are probably those of this James and Phebe Smith.
