He is survived by four sons, John of Edgewood, RI, Peter of Burbank, CA, and Harry and Fred Twiest of Grand Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Van Neuren; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Lemmick, all of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will beheld Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hollebeek Funeral Home, 1100 W. Leonard St. Interment Washington Park Memorial Gardens. Mr. Twiest reposes at the funeral home, where friends may meet the family from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

HAMELINK - Dena Hamelink, 87, of 808 Caulfield Ave., SW, died Sunday night at Blodgett Memorial Hospital after a short illsness.
Mrs. Hamelink was the widow of John Hamelink who died in 1925. She was born in the Netherlands and came to the United States at the age of 16 with her parents, settling in Grand Rapids.
She was married in 1889. Mrs. Hamelink was a member of the Ladies’ Holland Mutual Aid society and was a past president. She was a member of the former Holland Unitarian church here.
Surviving are two sons, John and William; three daughters, Mrs. Cornelius DeSmit, Mrs. Josephine Langland and Mrs. Ellis R. Dixon, all of Grand Rapids; eight grand children; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Herman Twiest of Grandville, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Praasterink and Mrs. Jennie Lemmink of Grand Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Joldersma chapel with Rev. James DeKraker, pastor of the Congregational church of Grandville, officiating. Burial will be in Washington Park Memorial Gardens.

HAMELINK - Mrs. Dena Hamelink, aged 87 of 808 Caulfield Ave., SW., passed away Sunday evening at Blodgett Memorial Hospital. She is survived by two sons, John and William; three daughters, Mrs. Cornelius (Minnie) DeSmit, Mrs. Josephine Langland, Mrs. Ellis R. (Loretta) Dixon, all of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Herman Twiest of Grandville, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Praasterink and Mrs. Jennie Lemmink, both of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Joldersman and Son Funeral Home 832 Grandville Ave., SW., Rev. James DeKraker, Pastor of the Congregational Church, Grandville, officiating. Interment Washington Park Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the chapel Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Death was caused by cardiac failure with decompensation (12 hours), partial intestinal obstruction due to diverticulitis (two weeks), and cholecystitis and cholelithiasis (years). She resided at 808 Caulfield SW, Grand Rapids. She was born February 21, 1969 in the Netherlands and was 87 years old at her death. Her parents were John Twiest and Lammechke Steen and Mrs. Cornelius De Smit was the informant. PRAASTERINK --- Herman G. Praasterink, aged 79, of 20 Graceland St., NE., passed away Monday morning at Butterworth Hospital. He is survived by his widow, Gertrude, one daughter, Mrs. John Veldman; one sister Mrs. Orville Enbody of Grand Rapids; three brothers, John of Kalamazoo, Fred of Grand Rapids, and Peter of Portland, Oregon. Mr. Praasterink reposes at the VanStrien-Alman Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Russell McConnel officiating. Interment Fairplains Cemetery.

Frederick Twiest, Ex-Grocer, Dies
Frederick Twiest, Sr., 78, grocer at Walker Station 18 years before his retirement eight years ago, died Thursday morning at St. Mary’s hospital. He lived at 4027 Richmond Road, NW.
Mr. Twiest was born in the Netherlands and came here when he was 5. He was a life member of Grand River Lodge, F&AM, and a member of the Grandville-Jenison Congregational church.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa; two sons, Frederick, Jr., and Albert J.; a daughter, Miss Florence L. Twiest; a brother, Herman; three sisters, Mrs. Dena Hamelink, Mrs. Gertrude Praasterink and Mrs. Jennie Lemmink, and three grandchildren, all of Grand Rapids.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Posthumus-Hilldreth chapel, Grandville, with Dr. J.J. DeKraker officiating. Burial will be in Washington Park Memorial Garden.

Kent County Death Records indicate Frederick died 21 June 1956 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Death was caused by Coronary Thrombosis, Bilateral Pneumonia and Ateriosclerotic Heart Disease. His social security number was 368-09-4329 and he resided at 4027 Richmond St. NW, Grand Rapids. His parents were John Twiest and Laura Stein. Theresa, his wife, was the informant. He was buried at Washington Park Memorial Gardens on 23 June 1956 from the Posthumus Hildreth Funeral Home. #68830

TWIEST - Mrs. Theresa Twiest, aged 69 of 79 Wilson St., Grandville, passed away Sunday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Florence Lucille Twiest, of Mt. Pleasant, two sons, Fred Jr., and Albert John, of Grand Rapids, three grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Rudy Smith, of Los Angeles, Calif., and a brother George Opdendyk, of Grand Rapids. Mrs. Twiest reposes at the Posthumus-Hildreth Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, with Dr. J. J. DeKraken officiating. Interment Washington Park Cemetary. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home Monday evening 7 to 9, and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
