Ca 1690 Marcy married Jonathan Turner (8740) , son of John Turner Sr. (3020) (ca 1621-aft 20 May 1697) & Mary Brewster (4066) (16 Apr 1627-aft 23 Mar 1698), in Scituate, MA.142 Born on 20 Sep 1646 in Scituate, MA.52,62 Jonathan was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, in May 1649.52 Jonathan died in Cohasset, MA, on 18 Apr 1724; he was 77. Occupation: cordwainer.

Jonathan first married Martha Bisbee, second Marcy Hatch, and third Lydia (Hayden) Vinton, widow of Blaise Vinton.

Johnathan resided near the place now [1831] occupied by Cushing Otis, Esq. opposite Union bridge lane.53 He succeeded to the tannery that his father had built, and built a house on a part of his father’s grant upon the southwest section of the 80 acres.42

7384. Elizabeth Hatch. Born on 10 Mar 1668 in Scituate, MA.52 At the age of 15, Elizabeth was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 9 Sep 1683.52 Elizabeth died in Marshfield, MA, on 12 Nov 1733; she was 65.

Israel and Elizabeth were second cousins; his paternal grandfather, William Hatch, and her paternal grandfather, Thomas Hatch, were brothers.

In 1812, Elizabeth’s sister Anna’s son Joseph was “brought to baptism by his uncle Israel And aunt Elizabeth Hatch”. Joseph was probably brought up by Israel and Elizabeth. Soon after Joseph’s birth, his father, also named Joseph Smith, had died, and his mother, Anna, married Amasa Turner. In 1811 Amasa died, and in 1816 she married Charles Stockbridge as his second wife.
On 27 Jul 1699 when Elizabeth was 31, she married Israel Hatch (11171) , son of Walter Hatch (14572) (ca 1624-24 May 1699) & Elizabeth Holbrook (3739) (ca 1631-ca 1674), in Scituate, MA.52 Born on 25 Mar 1667 in Scituate, MA.52 Israel died in Marshfield, MA, on 11 Oct 1740; he was 73.

Israel and Elizabeth were married in July of 1699, and their first child was born in October, three months later. In December of 1699 they were charged with “fornication with each other while single persons”.

James’ “will, dated April 29, 1740, was proved June 1, 1741. He was selectman of Hanover, and was one of first proprietors of Hatch’s Mill, in that part of Hanover which is now Hanson.”15
Ca 1696 James married Abigail Smith, daughter of Jeremiah “Dermit” Smith (ca 1650-bef 1718) & Abigail.296 Abigail was baptized in First Congegational Church of Hanover, on 24 Aug 1735.446

Was Abigail the daughter of Jeremiah (also called Dermit) and Abigail Smith? Dermit was born about 1650 at Milton, MA, and died before 1718 at Swansea, MA. Check out NEHGR 128, page 12.

Born on 6 Oct 1677 in Scituate, MA.52 At the age of 34, Anna was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 20 Jul 1712.447 “Anna Turner Widow of Amasa Turner, and her children viz: Benjamin, Eliab, and Anna & Hannah July 20^th 1712” were baptised. Anna died aft 27 Mar 1754.239 Education: Anna was admitted to full communion, 4 Sept 1715, Second Church of Scituate.

Ann first married Joseph Smith, second Amasa Turner.

Anna was appointed guardian of her children, Joseph, Anna, and Benjamin Smith, after the death of her first husband, Joseph Smith.447
On 28 Aug 1695 when Anna was 17, she first married Joseph Smith, son of Jeremiah “Dermit” Smith (ca 1650-bef 1718) & Mary Sweet, in Swansea, Bristol County, Massachusetts.191 Born ca 1672/1677. Joseph died in Scituate, MA 13 Feb 1701/2.267

Probate record: [1: 357: OS Docket #18,513 contains the Letter of Administration and inventory.] Letters of Administration on the estate of Joseph Smith, late of Scituate, deceased, were granted to Annah Smith, Relict and widow, Jeremiah Hatch, Sr., and James Hatch, on 21 April 1702.
    The inventory of the estate of Josiah Smith of Scituate, who dyed 13 February 1701/2, was taken by Jeremiah Hatch, Batcheldor Wing and [name illegible] and sworn to by Jeremiah Hatch and Anna Smith on 30 April 1702.267

Charles was one of the first selectmen of the new town of Hanover, set off from Scituate in 1727.25
