(It is sometimes said that Naomi Foster married John Davenport, but it appears John’s wife was Naomi May, daughter of John and Sarah (Brewer) May. See Dawes-Gates Ancestral Lines, Mary Walton Ferris, 1943, volume 1, page 276, for a discussion on the question. Besides the points made there, one of the children of Abraham and Naomi Jones was named Hatherly, a distinct indication that Naomi was related to the Fosters.)

Ca 1689 Naomi married Abraham Jones, son of Abraham Jones (1628-25 Jan 1718) & Sarah Whitman (ca 1632-11 Jan 1717/8). Born ca 1659 in Hull, MA.109 Abraham died in Rayham, MA on 18 Mar 1735.

13915. Dea. Hatherly Foster. Born on 22 Sep 1671 in Dorchester, MA.25 Hatherly died in Scituate, MA, on 11 Jul 1751; he was 79.52 Buried in Second Church Cemetery, Norwell.

Hatherly was named after his Hatherly ancestors. His great grandmother Eglin’s maiden name was Hatherly, and her brother Timothy Hatherly was a leading citizen of Scituate.

From Deane’s History of Scituate:
    Dea. Hatherly Foster was in Scituate 1698, when he married Bathshua, the daugghter of Joseph Turner, and settled on the farm at North river. The house in which his great grandson Timothy now [1831] resides, was built 1697, and is now in good repair.53

The Deacon Hatherly Foster property adjoined that of Joseph Turner on the east.42
On 1 Dec 1698 when Hatherly was 27, he married Bathsheba Turner (11347) , daughter of Dea. Joseph Turner (8742) (12 Jan 1649/50-13 Feb 1724) & Bathsheba Hobart (3832) (28 Sep 1640-14 Apr 1724), in Scituate, MA.110 “Hatherly ffoster & Bathshua his wife were Married the 1st of December, 1698”. Born on 30 Dec 1679 in Scituate, MA.52 Bathsheba was baptized in Scituate, MA, on 9 May 1680.142 Bathsheba died in Scituate, MA, on 6 Mar 1744; she was 64.52 Buried in Second Church Cemetery, Norwell.
