45747. Samuel Otis. Born on 15 Dec 1733 in Hanover, MA.486 Samuel was baptized in First Congegational Church of Hanover, on 23 Dec 1733.446 Samuel died bef 1781.

“Samuel Otis Son of Job Otis and Thankful his wife was born the fifteenth Day of December in the year 1733”486

His name may have been Lemuel as that’s what’s transcribed on the baptism record.446

Samuel was not mentioned in his father’s will and probably had died young.
45748. Thankful Otis. Born on 15 Jul 1735 in Hanover, MA.486 Thankful died in Scituate, MA, on 21 May 1826; she was 90. Buried in South Parish Cemetery, Norwell.

Ignatius and Thankful were first cousins since Ignatius’s father, Ensign, and Thankful’s mother, Thankful Otis, were both children of Stephen Otis; but they were also second cousins since Thankful’s father, Job was a nephew of Stephen.

Thankful married Ignatius Otis (45730) , son of Lieut. Ensign Otis (26751) (29 Jan 1691-Nov 1774) & Hannah. Born on 2 Feb 1731 in Scituate, MA.52 At the age of 1, Ignatius was baptized in First Parish Church of Scituate, on 30 Jul 1732.52 Ignatius died in Scituate, MA, on 21 Jan 1802; he was 70.52 Buried in South Parish Cemetery, Norwell.

From William A. Otis’s Memoir of the Otis Family:168
    The residence of Ignatius and Thankful was near Halifax Hill [now Otis hill] in Scituate. He was a warm whig, and took an active part in the Revolution; thereby losing his property and his reason. He remained insane until his death. He was one of the members of the Committee of Inspection of Scituate during the Revolution.

Ignatius was an ardent Whig and very active in the Revolutionary cause.42

Ignatius died in his 70th year.52
