Issac practiced medicine in East Bridgewater, MA. He served a short time in the Revolutionary War as surgeon in Col. Edward Mitchell’s regiment.168 In 1762 his name appears on a List of Officerss commissioned for the 2d Regiment of Militia in the County of Plymouth, with rank of Captain of 7th Bridgewater Company, Col. Thomas Clapp’s Regiment. In the Revolution he appears with rank of Surgeon on Muster and Pay Roll of Col. Mitchell’s Regiment, for service on alarm at Bristol, RI, 8 Dec 1776. Time of service, 16 days.42
On 30 Jun 1746 when Isaac was 26, he married Mehitable Bass (48860) , daughter of Capt. Jonathan Bass (31599) (ca 1697-17 May 1750) & Susanna Byram (ca 1694-19 Sep 1783), in Bridgewater, MA.168 Born on 21 Apr 1728 in Bridgewater, MA.168 Mehitable died in East Bridgewater, MA, on 15 Mar 1800; she was 71.168

From William A. Otis’s Memoir of the Otis Family:168
    Dr. Otis was the third physician of Scituate, and commenced practice about 1760. He was in the French War and served as surgeon’s mate at Crown point in 1758, in Colonel Bayley’s regiment. In 1774 he was on a committee appointed by the town, which reported that ‘the arbitrary measures of the British Pariament are subversive of those rights and liberties which our fathers have handed down to us.’ He was also one of the Scituate Committee of Inspection, who reported all who were inimical to the Continental Association.

James and Lucy lived in the Isaac Otis house beside Stony Cove Brook. He began to practice medicine about 1760, after having been in 1756 a Surgeon’s Mate in the French War.42

He was in the Revolutionary War and a surgeon both on board the sloop of war Ranger and with the American forces at Ticonderoga.
