John inherited the Ensign property from his father, and lived in the Ensign house. He later built the house on the north corner of Front and Otis streets at the Harbor, where his son Ensign afterwards lived.42

From William A. Otis’s Memoir of the Otis Family:168
    The residence of Ignatius and Thankful was near Halifax Hill [now Otis hill] in Scituate. He was a warm whig, and took an active part in the Revolution; thereby losing his property and his reason. He remained insane until his death. He was one of the members of the Committee of Inspection of Scituate during the Revolution.

Ignatius was an ardent Whig and very active in the Revolutionary cause.42

Ignatius died in his 70th year.52
Ignatius married Thankful Otis (45748) , daughter of Job Otis (28579) (28 Mar 1702-aft 12 Dec 1781) & Thankful Otis (26755) (ca 1702-4 Aug 1739). Born on 15 Jul 1735 in Hanover, MA.486 Thankful died in Scituate, MA, on 21 May 1826; she was 90. Buried in South Parish Cemetery, Norwell.

Ignatius and Thankful were first cousins since Ignatius’s father, Ensign, and Thankful’s mother, Thankful Otis, were both children of Stephen Otis; but they were also second cousins since Thankful’s father, Job was a nephew of Stephen.

    Noah was one of the Committee of Correspondence and of Inspection of Scituate during the Revolution, and had command of a body of men who kept guard day and night. He served as private in Capt. Wm. Barker’s Co.; this regiment ws ordered to march on an alarm to Bristol, RI.

Noah and Phoebe resided at the Harbor Village.42
On 1 May 1766 Noah married Phebe Cushing (39115) , daughter of Col. Ezekiel Cushing (20982) (27 Apr 1698-7 May 1765) & Hannah Doane (19703) (1 Dec 1703-7 Jun 1742), in Scituate, MA.110 Born on 15 Apr 1738 in Provincetown, MA.2 Phebe died in Scituate, MA, on 30 Mar 1805; she was 66.52 Buried in Union Street Cemetery, Scituate.

Phebe was of Falmouth when she married Noah.52
