From Deane’s History of Scituate:53
Benjamin was the 2d. regularly bred physician, who settled in Scituate [Dr. Isaac Otis having been the first42]. He was educated under Dr. Bulfinch, of Boston, and succeeded to the Stockbridge Mansion. There is undoubted testimony, that he was the great physician of his day. His account books exhibit sufficient evidence, that he was a consulting physician in difficult cases, in a circle, embracing the whhole country from Falmouth to Worcester, and to Ipswich. He is remembered by a few aged people [in 1831], as having held the reputation of the first physician of the time, and not the reputation of quackery, but that of an enlightened benefactor to mankind. (Dr. Benjamin educated many young gentlemen in Medicine, from Boston, and other towns, amongst whom we may name the distinguished Dr. Isaac Winslow of Marshfield, who married his daughter.) He is described as a gentleman of wit and taste, eminently pleasing in his own hospitable mansion, and the delight of literary society: and we may add, that he had made attainments in the science of music which were rare at that time.

Benjamin was vestryman for 29 years at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Scituate.239
On 3 Jun 1731 when Benjamin was 26, he married Ruth Otis (28583) , daughter of Job Otis (12024) (20 Mar 1677-1758) & Mercy Little (23799) (26 Feb 1678-1755), in the Second Church of Scituate.110 Born on 13 Mar 1712 in Scituate, MA.52 Ruth died in Scituate, MA, on 5 Jan 1745; she was 32.52 Buried in Union Street Cemetery, Scituate.
