52265. Edmund Grindell Weld. Born on 12 Oct 1753 in Roxbury, MA.54 Edmund Grindell was baptized on 4 Nov 1753.54 Edmund Grindell died bef 5 Apr 1796.54 Occupation: Felt-Monger.

Edmund bought land of his father, one half acre southeast of the brook 5 Apr 1783; bought for £48 one quarter part of a house from the adminiatrators of the estate of Joseph Warren 17 Sep 1784; bought a piece of land 76 by 37 feet in Roxbury from Nehemiah Monroe 10 Nov 1791; sold his house on Roxbury Street in which he lived 5 may 1792 to George Ziegler of Roxbury, victualler. He was a sexton of the First Church from 1793 to 1795. The inventory of his estate was filed 7 Feb 1797 shoing real estate worth $1333.34, and personal estate for $156.62. An allowance was made to the widow, but the estate was insolvent. Hence there is no mention of children, and the town records, at this point very imperfect, fail to give the names of any.54
On 2 Mar 1776 when Edmund Grindell was 22, he married Sarah Weld. Born ca 1757. Sarah died on 17 Nov 1841.

After the death of John Weld (1835), Sarah and Clemence moved to Eaton, NY, and spent the remainder of their lives with Sally (Ayres) Isbell.54

Cambridge was transferred to Washington Co in 1791. It’s east of Saratoga County near the Vermont border. There was another Asa Phelps family in the area, that of Asa and Martha (Bronson) Phelps, but they were of Rensselaerville, Albany County, and there’s a census record for them.
