David and Deborah adopted Deborah neice, Elizabeth, daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Little) Cudworth, but Elizabeth died before reaching age 3.

    Joseph moved to Richmond, MA. It has also been reported that afterwards Whitestown, N.Y. was his home, where he likewise died about 1793, but as there is (at least at present) no town by this name in N.Y. state, this statement is open to question.
    He was noted for going to sleep in his wagon and other places. He sometimes fell asleep while smoking; so often breaking his pipe in this way that he procured one made of iron. It was told of him by Dr. Watson of Colchester that when at church one Sunday, the sermon happening to be longer than usual, he took out a doughnut, and while in the act of biting it, fell asleep. His head fell back with the cake protruding from his mouth, and he was an object of great merriment.

Two years before Mercy Little married Joseph Otis of Scituate, her older sister Elizabeth Little had married Joseph Otis of New London. The two Joseph Otises were first cousins.
On 2 Feb 1740 when Mercy was 15, she married Joseph Otis (26757) , son of Capt. Stephen Otis (12020) (1661-26 Aug 1733) & Hannah Ensign (10705) (ca 1670-1 May 1729), in First Parish Church of Scituate.110,52 Born 16 Mar 1709/10 in Scituate, MA.52 Joseph died in Scituate, MA on 11 Sep 1788.52 Buried in Union Street Cemetery, Scituate.

Joseph and Mercy lived at the ‘Two Stacks’ with her brother Barnabas.42

    Joseph was representative from Boston, and keeper of the jail; also mariner, and sheriff of Suffolk Co. After his death, his widow married Rev. John Hancock, the father of the governor.
    Joseph and his descendants occupied for many years the old house, built about 1700, known as ‘The Old Two-Stacks’. This house, however, was not built by Joseph, but by his wife’s family, the Littles.

“Barnabas was a public spirited and useful man, and distinguished for his zeal in promoting the American cause in 1776; he left no family.”53

Barnabas ws a wealthy and influential man who held many town offices, and loaned large sums of money to help carry on the Revolutionary War. He left the estate to his nephew, John Otis, son of Moseph and Mercy (Little).42
